  1. .How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition? Do you agree with it?
  2. What do you understand by Historical Sense? (Use these quotes to explain your understanding)
    • "The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its presence"
    • This historical sense, which is a sense of the timeless as well as of the temporal and of the timeless and of the temporal together, is what makes a writer traditional
  3. What is the relationship between “tradition” and “the individual talent,” according to the poet T. S. Eliot?
  4. Explain: "Some can absorb knowledge, the more tardy must sweat for it. Shakespeare acquired more essential history from Plutarch than most men could from the whole British Museum".
  5. Explain: "Honest criticism and sensitive appreciation is directed not upon the poet but upon the poetry"
  6. How would you like to explain Eliot's theory of depersonalization? You can explain with the help of chemical reaction in presence of catalyst agent, Platinum.
  7. Explain: " Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality."
  8. Write two points on which one can write critique on 'T.S. Eliot as a critic'.
1) Yes I agree with it, T.S.Eliot's concept of tradition, whether he uses this termwith positive connotation or nagative and secondly, it will be interesting to know how the individual talent is associated with it. Tradition which connotes quite a few things actually. It connotes that at a particular place over period of poeple living a life believe in certain principles beliefs and carry out a way of life. Eliot mentions that one means tradition often, in the sense of the traditional.
2) Understand by Historical sense is . Eliot, tradition has a three- four significance.1) tradition cannot be inherited and involves a great deal of labour and erudition .2) it involves the historical sense which involves apperception not only of the pastness of the past, but also  of its presence.3) the historical sense enables a writer to write not only with his own generation in mind, but with a feeling that the whole of the literature from Homer down to the literature of his own country form a continuous literary tradition.
3)The relation between ,T.S.Eliot, closes the essay in a way the short third section of tradition and the individual Talent so you can see the unaffected mind like the strip of platinum is actually being mentioned by Aristotal. so here is the classicist what later on Eliot would describe himself as a classicist here is the influence of the classical on our very modern high modern Eliot.
4) This quote means it is not necessary to become a scholar means read a lot. one can’t absorb knowledge by reading all books in library and some people like Shakespeare  has  great understanding n observation that their literature has deep understanding one can fell in love with his books and writings.
5) This quotation itself says that poetry cannot be judge by its poet. If we take any poem for analyses our primary purpose must be that what is the central theme of the poem not a poet himself. We should judge the purpose of the poem through its word not by the biographical history of the poet.
6) The theory of depersonalization is related with chemical process.  In this process person is not present in the poem. Same if we talk about chemical process and we take oxygen and sulpher dioxide and the catalyst is platinium and at the end of the process we get sulphurous acid so in this way we connect that catalyst is the poet and the mixture we get is poem.
7). poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality. in this quote means that the poet is not to find new emotion but use standard one also. The poet also working upon them in to poetry to convey feeling which are not in actual emotions at all. Poetry may be composed out of emotions only for out of feelings only on out of both.

8) .T.S.Eliot as critic and he give some idea to understanding new criticism to understand better way also.Eliot inspired and informed the movement of new criticis
